Cafes in Oslo

I love going to cafes whether I'm home or traveling. I love it because I love indulging in someone else's vision of a physical space. I love it because I love people watching. I love it because I love talking to strangers. I love it because I love drinking matcha lattes. And I love it because it's a space where I can be alone in my thoughts while being surrounded by live inspiration. All for a 50 kr coffee? #worthit

Journaling

I've been journaling for 25 years, and I have a thing or two to say about it.

Making clothes

My mom taught me how to croquet and knit when I was in 3rd grade. A decade and a half later, I found myself craving this childhood play. In the depths of 2020, I needed a wedding dress and had the delusion "I could probably do that." At first, I tried to knit a traditional Irish lace pattern with 100% fine wool yarn. I quickly realized that it would take 100 years, so I decided to hand sew it instead (I didn't know how to use a sewing machine). I procrastinated the actual production until the day before the civil ceremony. But that last-minute energy shot through my veins, and I slapped it together in 2 hours. After that, I thought, "That was fun. And surprisingly doable."

My second home in Oslo was a 2-year passion project where I developed my personal taste in home interior. It was a labor of love with many trials and errors. A treasure box of so many special pieces that I handpicked, designed, and built. It filled my heart and broke it at the same time, but I will always be ever grateful for all the lessons I learned here.

This 35-sqm apartment was my first home that I ever owned, so it will always have a special place in my heart. My favorite feature was the 3 large windows side-by-side each other, teasing us every night with a view of the iconic Oslo sunsets. My favorite memories are of the countless dinner parties we threw and my all time favorite compliment was from a friend who told me that he was having a bad day, but walking into my home felt like entering into a cozy oasis that made all his problems go away. I put in a lot of tender, love and care into staging the apartment, and it sold within 24-hours of being listed.
